Being Middle Eastern, I have a very strong cultural tie to the food. Though I have many different favorite dishes, Shakshuka is definitely the one dish that every person from every culture will enjoy. Shakshuka is lightly cooked eggs in a rich tomato base. Once cooked you break through the yolks for it to spread around the entire dish making it so creamy and comforting. I have tried Shakshuka many different times in Middle Eastern countries and have found the recipe that works for me.
There a lot of different takes on Shakshuka but here is the simple base recipe. Once you have the base down you can play around with different cheeses, herbs and add in even more vegetables. It is traditionally cooked in a large cast iron skillet but if you don't have that, a regular deep pan will do just fine. Hope you enjoy!
